Now
the way to turn Kirkby’s fortunes around is to in Mr. Black’s
opinion to build, yes you’ve guessed it a major food store
in the area, and this in turn would attract key national
chains to the Town.
The
four phases of the build would be:
•
Blues Stadium / Tesco’s / Car Parking / Demolition of The
Old Swimming Pool, even though I learnt to swim there /
Upgrade The Bus Station.
• Completion of Retail Units on Cherryfield Drive / New
Council Offices
• Hotel and Leisure Facilities / Demolition of Kirkby Suite
– Lets Hope they finish the Inquiry of first.
• New Retail Units on The former Asda site / Regeneration
of existing Town Centre.

The
bombshell for some local residents is that the Council will
have to acquire Compulsory Purchase Orders for some of properties
in the area, but hey what’s your house when its progress
that matters.

Our old mate Stephen Sauvain (Representing Liverpool Council)
now piped up and asked Mr Black if the commercial viability
of the whole project was dependant on the Blues moving to
Kirkby. Blacky said he felt improving Kirkby was crucial,
and he felt the Stadiums input would do that, but it was
not essential to the commercial viability of the project.
He added though that it was ‘an all or nothing’ situation.

So
Mr. Black got it today. Roger who got it yesterday wiped
the sweat from his brow thankfully watching someone else
take the flack. It’s the weekend so all sides went out on
a big jolly up to The Carters Arms (allegedly) and the ale
flowed freely. Rumour has it they even got a stay back,
I said allegedly!!!!!
Roll
on Monday, and three points to the Blues hopefully, but
funnily enough no one mentioned that.
