Having been in and out of the side and missing Everton's recent Europa league away games with hamstring injuries, the Nigerian skipper who hopes to be involved in the African nations cup in January has said that rest until the end of the year will sort the problem out. Joe says: "A scan carried out showed that it was a familiar hamstring injury that I should rest until the end of the year. They anticipate that I should be fully back at the end of December. Unfortunately that will cost me a chance to help out my club at this demanding and crucial stage of the season." (10/12/09) Joe is looking forward to tonight's game against BATE Borisov in the Europa League. The Everton skipper is hoping to continue with a fifth game on the bounce without conceding a goal, pointing to Sylvain Distin as a big factor in keeping the ball out of the Everton net. Joe says: "Sylvain is a quality player and someone who has a lot of experience. He's settling down now after joining and we played against each other so had knowledge of each other's game. We're happy the way things are going and just want to continue that. It is something we want to continue as it is a very important aspect of the game. We are back on track now and doing pretty good, so we are looking forward to this match." (01/09/09) Since Phil Neville's injury, Joe has taken on the armband and Tim Howard believes the extra responsibility has helped Everton's defence keep 4 clean sheets on the run. Tim says: "He's been great. The manager's heaped a load of responsibility on him by giving him the captain's armband but he's relished it. He's been a fantastic leader for us. I think we have a few leaders in this team because the manager has brought in a heap of experience but Joseph has been captain of his country. He knows what it's about at the highest level and he's been fantastic in that role." (30/09/09) More cash will get better players and then make a better team. Not rocket science is it? Joey says: "With a better financial backing, we can be in the top four before long. We have a very bright future ahead. We have finished these past two seasons within the top six and we are still growing as a team. I believe that in the very near future we will break into the top four in England." (22/06/09) Joey Yobo joined The Jag in securing a new five year deal with the Blues. Both centre halves will now be tied to the Club till the Summer 2014. That's time for a League title and a few more Cup Finals, get in there. COYB FTRS Some Fella' From The Blues says: "Everton is delighted contract negotiations with both Joseph Yobo and Phil Jagielka have now been successfully concluded and both players will sign new five-year deals with the Club imminently."
