David Moyes - Manager Of The People's Club 2009/10

Are You 'avin That Dave

Now the Football authorities sometimes come up with some shite ideas, but the latest one doing the rounds is for teams who finish in the 7th, 6th, 5th and 4th positions to play off for the last remaining Champions League spot. Now any idea that potentially messes the shite up is a good one in my book, and Davey Moyes thinks it is worth considering to. It could over the passage of time even the playing field up, and who know if implemented we could start with a guaranteed £30/£40m pot of gold if succesful.

Moyesy says: "I look at it both ways as it could be very exciting. I would be happy with the idea if I finished fifth or sixth but if I finished fourth again I don't think I would be backing it. Does finishing seventh give you a right to that kind of success? It would be a good season but it doesn't really mean you have the right to be the fourth best team in England. However, it has worked really well in the Championship, allowing teams to gain promotion, so it may be something worth looking at."

Some Premier League Dude says: "We look at all sorts of ideas and rarely make comment until we have decided something definitely." (15/02/10)

Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for January

Another award for the manager of The People's Club. No doubt he deserves it with Everton having won 4 and drawn 2 in the last 6 premiership games. No doubt tomorrow he will show the class which he has in abundance in his 600th game as manager. Other managers should take note.

Moyesy says: "I would like to thank Barclays and the Premier League for this award but it is for the players really because they have done really well throughout the month of January." (05/02/10)

No Surprise To Me

Everyone of late is talking up the Blues, but Moyesy is not surprised at his teams upturn in form. Moyesy though still knows we have a long way to go, but after wins against Sitteh, and draws at The Arse and Chelski in recent weeks, the future is looking good. Lets put the icing on the cake against the shite on Saturday. COYB FTRS

Moyesy says: "They're not surprising me at all. Everyone's talking about the run but, for me, I still feel as if we've only just started. While this run looks good on paper, in my head I think we've still got a lot of ground to make up.

We've got a long way to go and a long way to climb for the sort of excellence I'm looking for. The players know I am looking for excellence throughout - in the performances and the results. I thought we had excellence in the performances against Man City and Arsenal and I'm striving to get the players to play as well as that in all the games. They've set the standards and that's what I'm looking forward to." (03/02/10)

Europe Should Be The Norm

Unbeaten in the Prem since late November and the Blues are at last putting a charge in to compete for one of those lucrative European slots we have took for granted over the last few seasons.

Moyesy wants Europe again as we all do at Everton Football Club, and as he approaches his 600th game as a Manager this weekend, the Boss reflects on Europe, Managers and the Big Issue of the week, that cross dresser winning some show were they sit in a house for a few weeks.

Moyesy says: "I'm ambitious and I want to be managing in European competition. I tell the players that. I want them to have the same drive as me. In the past few years, we have been closer to it but this year we are not. We are going to have to fight incredibly hard and somehow scrape in by the skin of our teeth. But we have to keep believing we can make it, because it is important for everyone here.

I am a long way from the 1,000 club, 600 at the moment seems a very long time. But it is important to give young managers the chance to learn and to do the job well, and Everton have always been prepared to do that with me.

My management style has changed, I am not so stern now. But you have to move with the times, although I am grateful for a chairman and board who understood what I was trying to do. One thing is that I have not lost my passion for the game. If I was not playing I would be trying to play for an amateur team on a Sunday, or supporting a club. Because I am a fan of the game more than anything." (31/01/10)

Moyesy's Half Term Report

Moyesy has come out with his half term assessment and .......well its a long one, so I will let the Gaffer explain, away you go Davey.....

Moyesy says: "I think the derby was the game where we got the commitment bang on from the players. We didn't get the result, but since that game I think the players have realised the level they have to achieve if they want to get something from games. There has been an upturn. But in the position we are in, we are going to have to show it in abundance now. In the last few seasons we have probably had more opportunity to play some nice football and show what we're about.

We have got two games in quick succession and it can change. Right now you have an idea of who is going to be where, although there are always one or two clubs that move in the second half of the season - be it dropping away from a strong position or moving right up the table. We have to make sure we are the team that is moving away from the bottom of the table. We are too close to the trapdoor at this moment. But at this moment in time we need to roll our sleeves up and fight to get out of the position we are in.

I think people realise we are not a flash in the pan - we have been in the top six over a number of seasons. That is why we are disappointed by where we are. Our performances have been quite good in recent games but we haven't quite got the three points in those games.

But the table can change very quickly over Christmas, with games in quick succession. The league has formed, we can't say our current position is not a true reflection of our form because it is - we are near the bottom right now because over the season we have not played well enough. We are in a false position based on the squad we have got but we are not in a false position in terms of the players we have available to us because we don't have the availability to be able to alter things if players aren't playing well. We have to keep using the same players.

But after the next two games it could be very different because the league is tightly bunched and things can change very quickly. Our performances have got better. Now we have to start getting the three points to go with it. What the draws against Tottenham and Chelsea did was lift the confidence, which was noticable in the game against Birmingham. We didn't go on to win the game but we were against a resilient side in good form and on a good run." (24/12/09)

In For The Long Haul

David Moyes is ignoring all the shite that has been written of late regarding him quitting, as he is at Everton for the long haul, who says so, he does.

Moyesy is just concentrating on Wednesday's Europa Cup clash against AEK Athens and hopefully some silverware come next May. Get in there Gaffer. COYB FTRS

Moyesy says: ""I have said all along that it is a great job and I really enjoy it. I intend to see it right through to the end. I think this competition is a good one. If I can't be in the Champions League, I want to be in this one.

We didn't make the Champions League, so for me, it's not necessarily about making money, it's about winning a trophy." (01/12/09)

Stand Up And Be Counted

Moyesy wants the players to look to the fans for inspiration and take responsibility to win the derby on Sunday.

Moyesy says: "Come on, stand up and be counted as you have done in the past. In the past, we have tended to show we had that in every game. That has been one of our biggest strengths, our character, our spirit, our endeavour. You can smell the difference in the attitude, the anticipation outside as people come to the game. Maybe some of the players could do with walking up to the ground a few times and seeing what it actually means to supporters. That can get taken away from them in the world we live in.

"If you've been a player since 18 and now you're 28 you'll have had 10 years when you have not walked up to the ground to a game too often at twenty to three. You have been away having your pre-match meal or inside getting your preparation. Sometimes it is important to see the people out there, walking up full of expectation. There is no point burying our heads in the sand. They should all be shaking my hand and thanking me for asking them to sign for Everton because it is such a great club. For some of them it might not get any better. So when they cross the white line they need to take responsibility.'' (28/11/09)

Europe Not Too Blame

Moyesy is refusing the allegation that this season's Euro campaign is affecting our Prem form. The Blues have had a stop start season up to now, and with two tricky matches this week (Hull & the shite), the Blues can either fall further behind, or end the week above the shite and be sitting comfortably in the top half of the table. Moyesy is calling on his thread bare troops to stand up and be counted, as we go in search of a third top five finish in a row.

Moyesy says: "If you were to give me Europe again now, I would gladly take it thank-you. I love to be in Europe but of course it has taken its toll on us because we don't have the players to change things. We are not saying changing the team completely but if you have the opportunity then you would like to swap it around a little bit.

We can’t change. We are giving the players another opportunity to put that (poor performances) right but one or two are not taking that on board. There are massive games all the time, but I thought that before the last one, so they are all big games.

I think in the past the word used with Everton is over-performing but I have always said we have performed at a good level, and though I will protect the players all day long they have to stand up and be counted now. We can only look after our own house at the moment and try and get it in order. We will start to get talked about less and less, because of what people have spent more than what they have actually done in the last few seasons.

What we've done deserves to be talked about (in that type of company) but if you have come to watch us recently you are right not to mention us in that breath, because we are not performing like a team who should be in the top part of the Premier League right now. We are trying to get back to winning ways and I think our expectations have risen greatly on how we should be, and at the moment I feel we are not reaching that. I'm looking for better performances and I'm looking for better performances from the players all round, definitely." (23/11/09)

European Hindrance

Has the European games effected our Premier League performance. Moyesy thinks so.

Moyesy says:"I have tried not to have any regrets about playing in Europe. But the more and more games you play in it, the more and more times you realise that some other managers have talked a lot of sense about the number of games in the Europa League.

"With the squads we have got, us particularly, it is very difficult to win Premier League games when you have got so many midweek games.

"The word rotation gets used to make sure everyone is as fresh as they can be. But we do not have that depth of squad, so we could look back and say that Europe has been a hindrance to us.

"I don't like talking that way. I have always wanted to talk positively about playing in Europe, we always want to qualify.

"But undoubtedly it could be having some effect on the domestic results we are getting now."(07/11/09)

TV Snub Explained

Moyesy has explained his press blackout after Tuesday nights Carling Cup exit to Spurs at White Hart Lane. Moyesy was a tadge pissed off that the powers that be had made the Blues play three games in six days, whilst so called bigger clubs were given an extra days rest for the sake of TV. Good on you Davey Boy, work it right up them.

Moyesy says: "The point I was trying to make was that the game was moved. It would have been simple enough to put the game between Liverpool (the shite) and Arsenal on the Tuesday night as they had both played on Sunday and it would have been equal for them.

For us to play Sunday and Tottenham to play on Saturday, gave them an added advantage. So I felt that it was fair for the competition to put us on the Wednesday night. But the competition authorities thought that wasn't right. So my reason for not speaking to the press was not because of any bad feeling towards the press. I hoped the message we got over was that we were really disappointed; nobody would listen to our disappointment and our unhappiness about it.

So the best way we felt was to say nothing and not promote a tournament which wasn't going to make it even for all teams." (30/10/09)

Are You Taking The Piss

Moyesy has laid in to the Carling Cup organisers after they have scheduled matches that will mean that the Blues will have little or no rest time. With our trip to Benfica swiftly followed by notloB away on Sunday, the Blues will only have 48hrs rest time before they face Spurs at White Hart Lane on Tuesday evening.

Moyesy cites and rightly so, that the so called big three and the shite have been given a few extra days rest, so the TV can have their way. He asked the simple question as to why the shite could not play their live game on Tuesday, and the Blues on Wednesday. Moyesy though has not taken into account when asking the question, the most of the Committee are knob 'eds, who have never played football never mind having any intelligence. Blurts Davey Boy, right they are.

Moyesy says: "My philosophy has always been to try and put our best teams in whatever competition we enter, but I find the lack of respect we have been shown by the Carling Cup organisers really disappointing. We have been asked to play Tottenham at White Hart Lane on a Tuesday night after playing the previous Thursday and Sunday at Benfica and Bolton.

I am aware that other clubs will have a similar scenario but they haven't got games on Thursday and again on the Sunday. It could have been quite easily been moved but for the decision to screen Arsenal v Liverpool on the Wednesday. That's the support you get for trying to put out your strongest teams in as many competitions as possible.

If I was Carling, I would question the people running the competition." (21/10/09)

Warning Shot For Blues

Moyesy has issued a warning to his players after our second consecutive home draw against opposition we would normally take to the cleaners. Also Moyesy would love to give Jack the Lad a breather, but with Phil Neville out at the moment, The Manager may have to carry on with Jack in the Prem games, though he could rest him against Benfica this Thursday in the Europa Cup.

Moyesy says: "This time last season we'd started to recover a wee bit more. I think the recovery might be longer this season. Why? Because of the late recruitment and the players who were out all summer. I thought against Stoke we actually played better and only got a point. I expected to build on that in this game and we didn't.

If I had my way and we had enough bodies I'd probably want to give him (Jack the Lad) a breather. He knows that. But it's noticeable that we're just a little bit short of people who we think could play in the centre. You do expect a dip in form, but he's done really, really well." (19/10/09)

Team of Leaders

With Phil Neville sidelined for the foreseeable future, Moyesy has been passing the Captains Armband to Joey Yobo, and then Leon Osman. The Manager however believes that he has a team of Captains, and the little black piece of cloth may still do the rounds within the Squaaaaaaaaaaaad, to the likes of Tiny, Tim or Hibbo.

Moyesy says: "I may ask others to step into the role too. Joseph Yobo played well and scored when he wore the armband, Leon Osman did the same so I might find out that giving people the captaincy steps up their game. I think we are like that as a team, so I think if one of the players is given the chance to wear the armband they will do so with pride.

It could quite easily go to Tim Cahill, Tim Howard or Tony Hibbert. I hope that every Saturday, every player feels like the captain though, and plays like a captain because the armband isn't the difference. I want people who are happy to take on responsibility and not hide,” he explained. “You need someone who has an understanding of what the manager wants. They must know the level of performance needed on the pitch to get results that satisfy the manager and, in turn, the supporters.

Most importantly, I look for those who crave improvement and thrive on responsibility. I think both Joseph and Leon have done that so far." (17/10/09)

Big Things Expected From New Signings

New signings, Jonny Heitinga and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov are going to be great additions to the squad says the manager of The People's Club.

Moyesy says: "I am very satisfied with these two players, they are both internationals but they are both young enough to improve. They both have experience, but not experience in the Premier League. But they will settle quickly. Johnny can play full-back, centre-half and in midfield, while Billy can also play in several positions. We still do not have that big a squad, so we need the adaptability they have.

They are good additions, they will fit in and find this a good place to be. We are excited to have them. The new faces have lifted the players, they can see that we have more competition for places and there will also be several injured players returning soon who have been out for a while." (12/09/09)

Get Your Finger Out Lads

Moyesy has sent a warning shot to a few of his players as he thinks one or two of them are under performing. With the likes of Billy, Sylvian and maybe Jonny Boy now in Blue shirts, Moyesy may have a few options open to him. Add to that the return of The Yak, Mikky and The Jag, and it means the futures bright, the future is Royal Blue.

Moyesy says: "There are three or four who need a kick up the backside. I've not been able to do that so far because of the injuries we've had but hopefully we will be getting some players back soon and if things don't improve then I can make some changes." (31/08/09)

My Fault Lads

Moyesy is holding his hands up after Saturday's horror show in the season's opener against the Arse. As the Manger rightly says he needs to coach them better, but he can't be held responsible for piss poor marking from a defence that was tighter than a Nun's crotch last season. Lets hope the boys bounce back against Sigma on Thursday, then Burnley at the weekend.

Moyesy says: "I'll take responsibility, I need to do better with the players I have. The players have a bit of responsibility too; to head the ball out, to mark people, and to go with runners. I will need to do better and coach them better and train them better. I am disappointed with the result and it's a disappointing day all round. We didn't play well, I thought in the first half we did not do badly until the goal, then the defending was terrible from set pieces. We need to do better." (17/08/09)

New Faces To Arrives

Most Blues are getting concerned that no new faces of note have arrived at Goodison this Summer break. Moyesy assures the Blues faithful that within the next few days moves are afoot to sort this thorny issue out, and some first team talent will be arriving at Goodison Park to challenge the established order. In Moyes we trust. COYB FTRS

Moyesy says: "We have got 13 or 14 players which I am happy with and we have some up-and-coming youngsters as well which gives us great hope. I hope maybe within the next 48 hours or so we will have a couple of new players added to the squad. If we do that then we will start to rebuild from the players we lost last season." (15/08/09)

Crawl Back Under Your Stone Sparky

Moyesy like us all is getting totally pissed off with Man Sitteh's attempt to sign Roger for the coming season. Moyesy laughed off claims that someone is talking to the Arabs over the potential of Roger moving to Eastlands. He reminds his counterpart Mark Hughes, the unlike him at Eastlands, our tough talking Manager calls the shots at Goodison.

Moyesy says: "We’ve said all along that he is a really important player for us, and maybe we value him more highly than they do. I hear that City think they are talking to people who make the decisions here, well that's me. I make the decisions, they have not talked to me and the player has been consistently told he is not for sale. He should get his head around that and get on with his career." (14/08/09)

No Respect From The Eastland Arabs

It is looking highly likely that Roger will be heading over to Eastlands if our sources are correct for a fee in the region of £22m. Moyesy though is far from happy in the way Mark Hughes and his staff have conducted themselves in this Summers transfer market. Everyone from Tevez, Terry, Adebayor and our own Roger have been courted through the media by Sittehh, and Moyesy is far from happy that this method have been used to unsettle players with promises of huge salaries. Like they always say, money cannot buy you manners, class or principles, and lets hope like the Skunks before them, the Arabs over at Eastlands crash and burn this season.

Moyesy says: "It's about showing respect and we're not being shown that. I'm sure if I was Mark Hughes, with all the money he has, I'd try to buy the best players. But we try to go about it in a different fashion. I'd think I'd go about my business in the way I've always done.

I've always tried to contact the managers and show respect to them in terms of transfers - and no matter how much money I might have to spend I'd always want to keep that up. It goes back to the managers having a drink together after the game, to the fact managers would still phone each other up when they're looking for a player. That is part of the way it should be done." (02/08/09)
