Seamus Coleman - 2009/10

Seamus May Be a Loan Star

With the loan window about to open again, the talk at Goodison is that Moyesy may loan out right back Seamus Coleman to a Championship club so he can gain some much needed first team experience.

A lot of Blues fans were mystified that Seamus never came into the fray in the Derby defeat on Saturday when Screech was carried off. With Hibbo still injured and Screech a major doubt for the clash against Chelski on Wednesday, Seamus may well at last get a start at right back, with Captain Phil dropping into the holding role. Keep It Going Seamus

Not for the first time this season, Seamus Coleman made a massive difference to a match, this time in the Blues win in the FA Cup against Carlisle. Moyesy threw the young Irish full back into the mix late on., and with his first foray up the park, he set up the Blues second goal. Moyesy is delighted with Seamus's progress, and to be fair all Blues fans are. Keep it up Seamus lad.

Moyesy says: "I think Seamus is the one we are really pleased for. He seems to go into games and nothing fazes him, even when you look back to his first game against Benfica.

I've never really had any worries about Seamus, he's positive and because of that it outweighs any negative things that might happen the other way, so good on the boy." (05/01/10)

Moyes Praises Humble Seamus

Moyesy has praised the young Irishman for his attitude after setting up the 2 goals against Spurs and getting the man of the match award.

Moyesy says: "He's a young boy we bought from Sligo Rovers. He's a young boy who came last year and did very well for us in pre-season, but picked up a horrendous injury, which was really difficult for the boy, and now he's back. He's 21, but he's young in footballing terms with his experience. But he's had one or two games already that I'm sure will help him and shape him in the future.

He's a very humble boy. I think you will have noticed when he made the goal last week the first thing he did was run back into his position, he didn't think about celebrating, he just ran back into his position and got ready. That's him. He's enjoying where he is just now and maybe wondering a little what it's all about." (11/12/09)

Feet On The Ground

After a man of the match performance in his premiership debut against Spurs, Seamus wants to play more games, but realises he has to keep his feet on the ground.

Shay says: "I'm not going to look too far ahead of myself; I did alright on Sunday but Chelsea are a big team. John Heitinga is back from suspension and if I'm even in the squad, I'll be happy. It's great to be involved with Everton. I want to play, everyone wants to play, but I'm not going to be unrealistic. I know I've a lot to learn still, I'm just happy to be involved with the matchday squad. It'd be great to play every week, I'm not sure that's going to happy, but I hope it will some day. It is only one game and one game is not going to make me a player, so I need to push on." (10/12/09)

Plaudits Well Deserved

Stand in Skipper Tim Cahill was delighted with the way Seamus Coleman acquitted himself after coming on as sub in Sundays draw with Spurs. Without doubt Seamus was Starman, and Tiny is made up with his progress, especially after his Goodison bow.

Tiny says: "He was fantastic. I’ve spoken about the young lads stepping up and taking the opportunity to do well and this is their chance. They’ve got to take it and be consistent. Now it’s about helping Seamus learn how to play in the Premier League. Today showed how well he is learning.

His attitude is one of the best things about him. He never stops, works hard in training and loves being part of the team. As a captain I’m proud of him and he deserves it." (08/12/09)
