Despite coming on as a half-time substitute in the FA Cup final on Saturday, Lars is still unsure if he will be at Everton next season. Lars says: "I want to stay but my contract is running down so I will have to wait and see if the club will offer me anything. I don’t know what the future holds after the summer. However, I love the club and I would like to stay." (01/06/09) After his debut against Portsmouth Lars would like to play more games. He has waited long enough for his chance, and with Joey and Hibbo out for the next few weeks, he may get his wish. Lars says: "I think I did okay. I've been out for a long time and I missed the rhythm in my play. I'm not 100 per cent yet, but at least it's a start. I was happy to play. There's another game in a couple of weeks and my aim is to just play well for the rest of the games that I get. I just want to play some more matches." (22/03/09) Lars patience is wearing thin, and he will consider his future this Summer after finding it hard to get a game with the Blues. Lars is back to full fitness, and with Hibbo out injured the Danish International is still only making the bench with Moyesy going with The Jag at right back. Keep smiling Lars, is still may end with a silver lining. Lars says: "It’s a nice club and I have some really good team-mates. The only thing that is not so good is the playing time. We will just see what happens but it is not sustainable in the long term that I do not play. I have to play some matches. I must play in a club where I can get playing time and if I cannot stay here it must be somewhere else. But that does not mean I am leaving. Now I will give it a chance here and will see what happens." (03/03/09) Lars is happy to be kicking a ball again after his run out for the rezzies on Tuesday night, though the FA Cup game against the shite will come too early for the Danish full back. Even though he has been out injured for most of the season, Lars is loving the atmosphere around the club at the moment. Lars says: "Playing against Liverpool (the shite) may be a bit early, I don’t know, we’ll have to wait and see. The manager decides that, I just want to get as many games as I can now and as fit as possible so I just have to wait and see. It’s a great team spirit and a great atmosphere, especially at the moment when we’re getting the results we do. I love to be here and I think the squad is great. It’s great to be playing again (v Hull Reserves). I was looking forward to this game, to playing in the Royal Blue jersey and, of course, I’m very proud of that. It was important to get my first game and now I can move on from there. When you’ve been out of the game for such long time like I have you take any football you can get. You like to play games, even if was at another level and only a few supporters. I enjoyed all of it so it was great. I was feeling quite good. The pitch was a bit heavy, but I felt good. When I got over the first 10 minutes I felt brilliant. I know it’s a different pace and tempo to the Premier League but it’s a good start." (22/01/09) It Rains a Lot Here Lars Jacobsen is close to a return to full fitness, but surprisingly what he is most worried about is the rain, yes the rain. The Danish defender with just one subs appearance to his name this season has been on the injury list with a dislocated shoulder and is about to return to full training. The rain though is occupying his mind. Never mind Lars, as I always say, you can never get wet in a pub !! Lars
says: "First of all I have to get 100 per cent fit and then
we will see if I am able to play some games. I hope so. The rehabilitation
period following that shoulder injury has been a meticulous one, but Jacobsen
senses he is nearing the end of that particular journey. I can do most
things. What I can't do is…I have limited range in my shoulder so I am
a bit scared to fall on it or bend it all the way over. That is the only
thing holding me back now. I can push and punch and stuff but the movement
has to be 100 per cent before I can go back into full training. Although it's early days, Lars has indicated he maybe fit in December rather than January after his dislocated shoulder. Lars says: "I got injured at the worst possible time. I had only trained about five times, then I went away with the Danish national team and got this injury. I was very unhappy at the time of my injury but now I'm just trying to look forward to coming back. Hopefully, I should be ready in December. That's all I'm focusing on at the moment. "I just got out of the sling last week, so that's positive, and I'm starting to work a bit more with my shoulder joint and try to get the movement back. I haven't been able to move my arm for a few weeks and I'm just starting to get some movement back, so that feels a bit strange. I can't really run at the moment because it's too much for my shoulder to take so I'm just working on the bike for my cardio and doing some exercises in the gym." (22/10/08) Lars will be out of action until the new year with a dislocated shoulder. Moyesy says: "He's got a badly dislocated shoulder that will keep him out for between three and four months. It's a blow to the boy as much as to us because he came here to kickstart his career and he was very close to being included. We have had a few injuries here, but we don't tend to talk about them because we get on with it and it is part of every football club." Lars says: "It's not good, I have just started at a new club and then this happens. It couldn't be much worse. When it happened, I noticed it was a tremendous pain. I noticed that something was wrong, but of course I didn't know what it was." (14/09/08) Lars suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder just before half time playing in Denmark's 3-2 win over Portugal last night. He was inline for his debut at Stoke, but will now face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. (11/09/08) Moyesy saw Lars in action for Denmark at the weekend and liked what he saw. Moyesy says: “Lars looks like he is in good shape at the minute and has definitely come into my thoughts for Stoke. He is a good footballer with a good understanding of the game and uses the ball well. I saw him at the weekend and he did well. We know he will give us options at right-back. We’ll see how he is when he gets back.” (09/09/08) Lars Gets International Clearance Lars has been given international clearance and is now eligible to play against Portsmouth at Goodison Park on Saturday. The only problem is his match fitness. He has only played one match in the last 3 months. (28/08/08) Everton's new defender thinks it's a fantastic opportunity to play in the premiership and hopes to impress enough to increase his one year deal to a two year deal. Lars says: "I'm very happy and very relieved it ended up like this because this was the best solution. It was very good that we kept calm, it's been worth the wait. I met David Moyes and the players. Everton are a big club and it's a fantastic opportunity for me which I couldn't say no to. I'm satisfied with the one-year deal and we have the possibility to look at another one. It was the Premier League where I wanted to be. Everton know what they are getting, they have seen me in a lot of matches, it's up to me now." (26/08/08) Everton's new signing will wear the number 15 shirt and will go straight into the squad for the game against Portsmouth, subject to Everton receiving his registration from the German FA. Lars has been the Danish right back for the last couple of seasons, playing in 16 internationals. The 28 year old played 6 games for FC Nuremburg last season. (26/08/08) |
