Shandy Heads Out

Shandy will always be remembered for crossing the ball for Super Dan to score against the redshite in the FA Cup derby win at Goodison last season. But it could have been so much more. Shandy (how does a professional footballer get a nickname like this?) has played just 24 times in 4 seasons. He arrived from Inter Milan in the summer of 2005 with so much promise, but was plagued with injuries, was suspended by the club over disciplinary problems and had personal problems. The thing is the fans were always behind him. What a waste of talent. (13/06/09)

Shandy On His Way

One thing for sure this Summer, is that Shandy will be on his way from Goodison when his contract comes to a close. Shandy's Agent Chiel Dekker has said that the player is looking for a new challenge. Fair shout Desmond but why didn't he look for a new challenge a few seasons ago when he knew he did not have a future at Goodison. Your 15% commission may have had something to do with it. Wherever Shandy goes we wish him all the best, if for nothing else than for that cross to Danny Gosling back on a wintry night in early February, fuckin' priceless.

Shandy's Agent Desmond Dekker says: "I think Andy will be leaving Everton when his contract expires. He has not been playing in the team and he is looking for a new challenge in his career. He is fit and ready to play and he would prefer to stay in England with a new club. We will wait and see what happens in the summer." (01/05/09)

Can I Have Some More Please?

Andy has had a troubled time since he came to Everton. The Dutchman has undoubted skills, but the fans have never seen them at their full potential. Shandy has had a couple of cameo parts in the last few games and would like more.

Andy says: "It's been good. I've really enjoyed playing. It's been a long time since I've had a run of games so I liked it. I feel happy and feel like a kid because I missed football so long. I was not involved sometimes and sometimes I was injured but now I'm getting more time to get on the pitch and that's the best feeling you can get as a player. I always hope that I play but I just have to see what happens. I have to train hard and wait for my chance and see if I can deliver some more crosses!

I thought we played very well against Bolton. We were not in trouble. Everton are strong at home anyway and we have good confidence. We're playing very well, I think. At that moment I didn't think a lot. It was actually afterwards when I came home that I realised that it was that important. Of course, we had the win, I know that, but I was not thinking about the cross, I was just happy that we scored. Then afterwards I got all the texts, off my friends and family and then I started thinking 'oh yeah, the cross came from me'. But that's what I'm good at and that's what people expect of me.

We were all happy that we beat Liverpool at home and we were further in the cup. The manager said ‘thanks’, but we did it all together. He said I played well and I've had a little bit longer against Bolton. I came in for 15 minutes so that was good and I can show a little bit more than if I had less time to play." (13/02/09)
