Referee Experiment

Nope its not April so I can't get away with pulling the wool over your eyes on this one, but tonight's Europa Cup Group match at Goodison will have five officials instead of the normal three. Two more refs will be placed behind each goal to spot for goal line incidents and any other infringements in their part of the pitch. It is the brain child of Anglo Saxon lover and UEFA President Michel Platini and it will be trailed in all Europa Cup matches this evening

Moyesy is slightly mystified as he has been given no guidance on how it will work, but like anything he is willing to give it a go.

Moyesy says: "I don't understand it that well, I haven't seen it in practice and we are a little bit in the dark about it. I know the officials will be alongside the goals and they will be allowed to go onto the pitch a little bit. Hopefully it will help. If it helps decision-making, then let's give it a go."

Michel Platini says: "Ah qui, qui it is jobs for ze boys, now were are my onions." (17/09/09)

Carling Cup Draw

The Blues have been drawn away to Hull in the 3rd Round of The Carling Cup. We were unbeaten against them last season, drawing 2-2 at their yard, and winning 2-0 at Goodison, both in the Premiership.

This is the round were the big boys come in due to their European commitments (take note Sitteeeh). Other notable ties are: Arse v West Brom, Leeds v the shite and Sittehh v Fulham. Ties are to be played the week beginning September 21st. (29/08/09)

Times They Are a Changing

Unbelievably Bluekipper.com is 10 years old at the beginning of September and to celebrate that fact a few changes will be made to the website. Yes we will be coming into the 19th century with a slight site re vamp which will offer you more up to date stories, easier navigation and more features to peruse.

We will also be running a superb prize draw with a chance to win a unique piece of Everton memorabilia to celebrate our 10th Anniversary.

The countdown has begun to the new Bluekipper.com site, so lets look back over the years to see what major stories we covered. Who can remember that fantastic day when Sandro' Pistone played with his hair, remember when Dickie Wright impersonated Frank Spencer, Archie Knox wielded his weapon (ooh matron), and of course that wonderful day when man landed on the moon, all covered by the BK Team.

Kipper

Jogger

Lard

Ernie

Sausage

Lavo

Over the years there has been changes. The original gang of Kipper, Sausage, Jogger, Lard and Keefer got the ball rolling back in early September 1999. Keefer left back in 2003 to pursue his dream of eating as many penguin biscuits as is humanly possible. Lavo joined us in the same year after serving a ten year stretch for debating too vigorously. Ernie came on board back in 2005, and today he still slices his melons albeit without Eric. So there we have the gang today, who bring you shite news, shite articles, shite photos, but hopefully a smile to your face on a daily basis?

So then sit back and enjoy the next ten years, and think about these profound questions. Will Sausage ever get his hair cut, will Kipper finish the decade without his Zimmer frame, will Ernie ever make up with Eric, will Jogger ever move from the title of third cock, will Lard ever get over his fear of bamboo shoots, and will Lavo ever get through a day sober.

Let the countdown begin ……(04/08/09)

Now That's Some Protest

Some people will climb a crane, some people will walk through London, others dress up as Batman, but Four mad Evertonians decided to climb the Inca Trail in Peru to raise money, and awareness of the potential closure of Alder Hey and Whiston Hospitals Burns Units. Businessmen, Michael Lee, Paul and Mark Fitzsimmons and William Albertina took it upon themselves to sod off to Peru to highlight this worthy cause.

All they ask you to do is not put your hand in your pocket, but to mail fellow Blue Andy Burnham who is the Health Secretary to stop all the Burns Unit facilities in Merseyside moving down the East Lancs to Manchester. They have already took Wayne Rooney from us, they ain't getting their hands on our Burns Unit.

Andy King Recovering From A Heart Attack

Andy King is awaiting the results of an angiogram, after suffering a heart attack recently. Andy, 52 is still adored by the Everton fans due to his passion skill and eye for a goal. The boy from Luton quickly become an adopted scouser after his £35,000 move in 1976. One of his best moments in an Everton shirt was when he scored the only goal in the derby game at Goodison in 1978. It was a twenty yard volley giving Everton their first win over the redshite in seven years. It produced this question at many quiz nights over the years.

Q: Where's Kings Drive?
Ans: In the back of Clemence's net.

In all he played 248 games scoring 67 goals in two spells for Everton. He is still a frequent visitor to Goodison and was a guest at a recent Blue Kipper Presentation Night. Get well soon Andy!

Andy says: "It’s humbling that people have been concerned about me and it’s just a question of waiting now for the results of the angiogram. Hopefully everything will be ok in the long run and in time, I’ll make a full recovery; with a bit of luck I’ll be fit enough to give Tim Cahill a run for his money!

I’d just like to thank everyone for all their good wishes and it says everything about the kind of football club Everton is. The first phone call I received when I came into hospital was from Bill Kenwright and that was overwhelming. Financially he might not be able to match Abramovich but he has never made that out to be the case; Bill is a Blue and having a chairman like that means more than having someone with stacks of money who doesn’t care for the club. It’s more than 25 years since I last played for Everton yet the chairman still felt compelled to ring me straight away. That symbolises the kind of care and warmth the club has as a whole." Andy After He Scored That Goal

Blues Pipped In The Final

Everton's Leg ends came within a whisker of winning the Mersey Masters tonight at The Echo Arena, after Tranmere Rovers pipped them in a closely fought Final. The Blues who had the likes of Craig Short, Tony Grant, Matt Jacko, Diamond Geezer and Dizza Pointin in their ranks started poorly when they were wellied 5-1 by Tranmere in the opening match. They went on to draw against Wigan and thoroughly deserved their 2-1 victory against the shite to set up a Final place, I will say that again, thoroughly deserved their 2-1 victory against the shite to set up their Final place. Blues man of the Tournament Craig Short netted three times, and after taking the lead in the Final, the Blues succumbed to late Tranmere goals to just miss out on the trophy. (27/06/09)

DIXIE'S GOING HOME!

Hit stage show The Dixie Dean Story, which has played to packed houses since its premiere
a year ago, is being presented in the Everton icon's native Wirral this summer.

Actor Steve Hazlehurst, who has won wide acclaim for his title role performances, once again plays the legendary centre forward when the curtain rises at New Brighton Floral Pavilion on Friday evening, July 24.

Fittingly, Steve was born in the same area of north Birkenhead as Dixie, attended the same Laird Street school and even played centre forward in the school team ..... just as Dixie had done in the early years of the 20th century.

The show, written and narrated by broadcaster and author John Keith and produced by Gill Beattie, charts the remarkable life and career of Dixie, whose real names were William Ralph.

It portrays his days as a youngster, when he practised hitting a ball against a chapel wall, through his rise to football fame with Tranmere Rovers, Everton and England, setting a fantastic, enduring record of 60 League goals in a season in 1927-28.

Degsey With That Shiner

Everton's championship and FA Cup winning centre back Derek Mountfield will be a special on-stage guest in the first Wirral production of The Dixie Dean Story at New Brighton Floral Pavilion on Friday evening July 24.

Like the legendary Dixie decades earlier, Derek launched his football career at Tranmere Rovers before crossing the Mersey to find fame and win silverware at Goodison.

"Dixie Dean is the greatest Everton player of them all and his goalscoring deeds were phenomenal, " says Derek. "I'm looking forward to being a part of the show that captures his remarkable feats."

Derek will be interviewed on stage by broadcaster John Keith - who wrote the show and narrates the story - with Wirral actor Steve Hazlehurst reprising his acclaimed role as Dixie.

Tickets for the show (£12 with £10 concessions) are available from the Floral Pavilion box office on: 0151 666 0000 or via their website: www.floralpavilion.com (11/06/09)

Leg Ends on The Whistle

Ex Blue leg ends Matt Jackson, Paul Lodge and Joe Parkinson will be helping out with refereeing duties next week as local Junior football side TMS hold their annual fund raising seven a side Soccer Day at St. Georges School in Maghull. With the help of The Great Mogul Pub, they jointly raised £10,000 last year, all of which went to the Walking With Giants Foundation. The Farm's lead singer Peter Hooton will also be on hand to help divvy out the trophies, and generally get in everyone's way.

There are a few places left for any teams (U7's to U10's) who would like to compete. If any interested businesses would like to sponsor the event or place an ad of support in the programme to help along with the purchasing of the trophies, you can call Brendan on 07971 807502, but please don't mention his ginger hair, touchy and all that yer know. Good luck to all.

Event Organiser, Brendan Grant says: "Yep I am a ging, but its never held me back. After last year's success, the Club decided to make this an annual event for the Walking with Giants Foundation however we are aware of other worthy causes in need of funding and support and because of this we will also be making donations to local boy Ryan Noble who suffers from mucular dystrophy and local girl Erin Bridges who was born thirteen weeks prematurely and suffers from cerebral palsy. Health and happiness can be taken for granted by all of us so it is important for all at TMS to show our support for the three children and to build on the fundraising and awareness that the Great Mogul Pub and their customers have shown in the last few years." Now the Australian website The World Game has a poll to see the Best Australian footballer, which is currently being led by Fulham's Mark Schwarzer. Now Timmy must win, for the reason only, that he is fuggin brilliant and we love him.

Many Thanks From Katherine

Katherine Hughes has mailed Bluekipper to say many thanks for all the people out there who dug deep as she ran the 5k Great Purple Run in memory of Rhys Jones. With the help of all you Kippers out there, Katherine's pot rose from £5 to well over £300 after we highlighted her plea for funds. Well done all, especially Katherine for running the event, the Blue Family never fail to amaze us. (12/05/09)

Now Katherine Hughes is a mad Blue (I mean mad), but credit were credit is due as she is Running For Rhys in this weekends 5k Great Purple Run at Croxteth Hall Park. Thousands are expected to enter, with the charity Liverpool Unites benefiting.

Blues fans might remember Katherine at Wembley the other week, when she and her niece made many a fella's day by turning up in a blue tutu, with a few messages on the outfit winding up the Mancs.

I know on bluekipper we do plug a lot of charity events, and once again we are asking you to dig deep. A quid here and there is all we ask, as if a few hundred people do that, it really does start to add up.

So once again our Blue Family, if you can dig deep for the Katherine who will be doing the hard graft in Rhys's memory, the Liverpool Unites Charity will benefit. Good luck Katherine, and good luck to all competing. (28/04/09)

Old Mother Riley Drafted In To Referee The FA Cup Semi Final

Mike 'Old Mother' Riley will now be the referee in Everton’s FA Cup semi-final against Man Utd on Sunday. Steve Bennett was initially set to take charge but was forced to withdraw through illness.

Riley has been his usual card-happy self this season, handing out 112 yellows and six reds in 29 games this season. Moyesy has rarely seen eye-to-eye with the official, since he awarded a controversial penalty to Utd in the final game of the season that cost Everton a place in the UEFA Cup. Riley sent off Tim Cahill in the derby in September. (14/04/09)

Families For Justice

Everton today backed a Campaign for 'Families Fighting For Justice', a group set up by ordinary people like you and I, but who have had the misfortune to have a loved one cruelly taken from them. Blues players Jo and Dan Gosling joined the photo shoot as the Blues threw their weight behind the campaign. Back in 2003, Blues fan Andrew Jones was murdered after a night out in Liverpool and his family are one of a group of families highlighting the groups aims. (07/04/09)

Unsey Calls It A Day

Unsey has hung up his boots to concentrate on getting his coaching badges at the age of 35. Affectionately called 'Rhino' by the fans, the popular defender played his heart out for the lads, having 2 spells at Everton were he played 350 times, scoring 40 goals. He also won one England cap. He was part of the last Everton team to visit Wembley as an FA Cup winner in 1995.

Unsworth says: "I've had a great time but it's the right time now for me to concentrate on something else. I am doing my coaching badges and my intention is to move into that side of the game. I'm thoroughly enjoying the coaching side and am keen to really get started, which is the main reason for hanging my boots up.

I played for some great teams alongside some great players but my best times were at Everton. I absolutely love the club and the fans and I would love to return again one day." (07/04/09)

Good Luck Unsey!

Help From The Blue Family

If you are at the Wigan match on Sunday and you see a man with a bucket for Bobby Brown please spare a quid and throw it in. You see Bobby is a Blue, his Grandad is a Blue, and Bobby needs an operation to save his sight that will cost in the region of £50k.

On Sunday Bobby's family will hopefully be collecting coins outside the ground after approaching Everton to see if they can do so. We know cash is tight, but one quid for a charitable cause will hopefully go a long way to helping a young Blue keep his sight. Bobby needs the surgery before he is two months old, which is an artificial cornea transplant, so time is against the family.

If you can't make the match, but feel like donating a quid, you can call 09013 600 803. You’ll be billed £1, of which 75p will go to Bobby’s fund. You can donate by cheque by sending your donation to Bobby Brown Fund to Warrington Guardian, The Academy, 138 Bridge Street, Warrington, WA1 2RU. Please dig deep

Signed Blues Shirt For Sara

A Post on The Bluekipper Forum:

On Friday a close friend of mine passed away at the age of 18. She collapsed and later found out she had meningitis & septicemia but it was too late and died that night. Two friends are cycling from London to Paris and a huge group of us are doing fundraising ideas. I go to Finch Farm a lot, and have a signed shirt by some of our players, Jags, Mikky, Joey, Tiny, Roger, Peanuts etc, and I am auctioning it on ebay and every penny will go to Zoe's Place Baby Hospice, the charity in which Sara's parents would like any money donated in her memory to go to. Thank You From Young Screech

Hi everyone at Bluekipper,

Thanks to the generosity of Evertonians, and also football fans around the world (even some Reds) you have helped me raise an amazing £4020.63 for comic relief! I even had someone take my photograph at the Stoke game as they had seen me in the papers!

Mum is not happy that I have asked her to braid my wig so I can still look like the Fell! Thank you again for all of your support, I hope to see you all at Wembley!

Lots of love, Lucas Everton Sherratt (19/03/09)

Big Joe Back At His Second Home

His first home is undoubtedly Goodison, but his second love is Boundary Park, and ex Everton player and Manger Joe Royle tonight finds himself back in the hot seat after a fifteen year gap. The sacking of John Sheridan has opened the door for Joe who has took charge until the end of the season. Great news for Joe and Oldham, not so good for Bluekipper as he was off on a jolly to Jersey with us a week on Saturday, never mind what's Graeme Sharps number !! (15/03/09)

Moyesy Is 'Mr Incredible'

Everton Legend Joe Royle has saluted the work done by David Moyes, the manager of The People's Club. Joe, who was the last Everton boss to win the FA Cup in 1995 would love to see his record go and Everton be succesful in 2009. The former Everton centre forward thinks Tim Cahill's goal threat could help Everton win the cup.

Joe says: "David Moyes has done an absolutely terrific job at Everton. With all the injuries they've had, it's an incredible achievement to see them challenging right up there. He's been backed to the hilt by chairman Bill Kenwright and even though they were both getting stick at the beginning of the season, they've kept going and got their rewards.

You've got to remember that they lost Yakubu, Anichebe, Arteta and many others and David's done great to get them playing so well with such a small squad. He's not been afraid to use the youngsters with Dan Gosling and Jack Rodwell both doing really well and then people like Phil Jagielka have been outstanding.

Tim Cahill has been a revelation as a striker. Tim Cahill has been a revelation as a striker. He was great as a midfielder but he's even better up front. He's scored so many goals this season and he really has become a top, top player. With him up front they really have a threat and he'll be one player who could help them win the cup." (11/03/09)
