Fans Forum

On Thursday 1st March 2001, the Blue Kipper boys honoured the invite and attended the inaugural meeting of the Everton Fans Forum.

The meeting was held at The Silvestrian Club, Silvester St off Vauxhall Road, this is to be the home of all future meetings and if you have never been there we can vouch that it is a top place, plush, decent ale and a room that can house 400 plus.

It was £1, yes just one pound to get it in and even that was donated to 'Blueblood' the Everton former-playres foundation. The guests were Graeme Sharp, Ray Hall (youth Development Coach) and comedian Denny Waters, the evening was compared by Phil Pellow of the Everton fanzine 'Satis'.

Sounds too good to be true? Why weren't you there? This Forum will now be a monthly event with the aim 'to facilitate a place where all Blues, old, young, male and female can get together and share what we all know to be a unique experience, the privilege of being an EVERTONIAN'.

The format was a Question Time session with Graeme, Ray and Phil, followed by Denny Waters and interspersed with some top tunes. There is even an offer of free food at future events (scouse). All we can think is that Toffeemen mustn't 'alf sup some if you can put on a night like this, at a venue like this for a price like this! There was also a raffle for the excellent prize of two 'Hall of Fame' caricature framed prints and there was a further 'Blueblood' collection

It really was a great night and we would encourage any true blue to get along to all future meetings, what a great opportunity to ask people close to the heartbeat of the Club all those questions you wanted to ask, some of which were humorous, some reminiscent and some quite pointed which put the panel on the spot, here are just some of the outputs:

- Everton are planning to move the training facilities to a 50 acre site in Copy Lane, Fazakerley...
.' I said 'when we move, not if......'

- Foreigners will not play in the reserves

- Watch out for a player called Wayne Rooney, he's 15 playing for the U19's

- The 28 March is the anniversary of the debut of Dixie Dean, a statue is to be erected at the Park End

- Franny Jeffers moved to the redshite in his youth, he wore his Everton shirt and Steve Heighway asked him to remove it, he refused and returned to Goodison, the rest as they say ....

- 'reserve football is dying'

- Next season Everton will revert from U17, U19 & Reserves to U17/19 & U19/Reserves ie from 3 teams to 2.

These were just some of the comments to come out of an excellent evening, the comedian was tremendous and hopefully he will return again, and Blue Kipper will be supporting all future events and recommend that you do too.

NEXT MEETING OF THE EVERTON FANS FORUM IS THURSDAY 5TH APRIL 2001
