Dream On

Had to pick myself off the floor when reading the latest on the Kirkby project.

Apparently, Gordon Brown is going to rescue the bid. Yaaaaaa-hoo!!

So let me get this right, the Labour Party have taken nine months to collect every piece of information, opinion and anything else pertinent to the proposals and then blown the scheme right out of the water. Now, in an attempt to save face, they're going to reconsider their own decision to make it look like they're not the baddies.

Well dream on, its not going to happen. The project is a dead duck. Its like the proverbial parrot, it is no more. Careful consideration has been given to every aspect of the scheme and they didn't like what they saw so they said NO. They've made the decision taking into account all legal ramifications to ensure there is no comeback or appeal. Now they're making noises in an attempt to generate unfounded hope.

Forunately, there are some amongst us that don't wear red tinted glasses. Its a wonder the BBC haven't broadcast a half hour special on how Brown is going to rescue our great Club.

Mickey Blue Eyes will probably blame all of the Fascists and Capitalists of the world for not believing this tripe, but hey-ho. Brown isn't the man from Del Monte, he's not going to say YES.

Dream on!! Eddieparkend COYB (09/12/09)

Thank You

Blue Kipper, Last Wednesday at the AEK match two of our group were pick-pocketed on the train on the way to the ground. They lost wallets and cash but most importantly, their match tickets. When we got off the train and started trying to cancel visa cards a group of Blues came over and asked what had happened. When we explained the tickets had been robbed the lads handed over two spare tickets they had. They wouldn’t take any money and gave the tickets over without even thinking twice. We didn’t get their names but I’d like to thank them via the site for confirming what we all already knew, Evertonians are the greatest fans in the land.

Thanks lads, you make me proud to be a Blue!! Andy Vidamour (09/12/09)

It's Pray Not Prey

Dear Bluekipper
The pedant in me has finally been roused by the AEK match report to point out that the phrase for something of the best quality is "top drawer" not "top draw" - a phrase you use a lot. (see http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/top-drawer.html if necessary).
In the same report you "prey" Bily will become a great - I think you mean "pray" (as in to God) not "prey" (an animal that is hunted and killed for food by another animal). I think it was the dogs of war that preyed....
But good on yer, love the site. Phil Holden (05/12/09)

Moyes must spend small to buy big

It is fair to say that David Moyes has made some of the best value signings in the history of the Premier League. He has put together a strong team that has challenged the big four over the past few seasons, on a budget we are used to seeing being spent on one player by the richer clubs.

As a true blue Evertonian, I am more than familiar with the phrase ‘In Moyes we trust,’ however I find myself frequently asking myself can the 3 time LMA manager of the year be trusted with large sums of money?

Marouane Fellaini is the clubs record transfer at £15million, but after a season and a half at the club he has failed to prove any significant impact for the amount paid for him.

Yakubu for £12.5million looked good value after scoring over 20 goals in the 07/08 season, but since his injury last year, the Premier League’s top scoring African has failed to recapture the form he once had.

Russian International Diniyar Bilyaletdinov has shown glimpses of why Moyes forked out £10million for him in a handful of appearances, but has much to do if he wants to be likened to Everton legends of the past.

Now with a squad plagued by list of long-term injuries, and the probability of loosing Joeseph Yobo and Yakubu to the African Nations cup, Moyes will be looking to strengthen in January.

I believe that the most effective way is for Moyes to go back to the basics that established him as a manager, by spending small.

Mikel Arteta cost just £2million from Real Sociedad in 2005, and when fit there is no doubt he would be a starter for all Premier League teams.

Everton’s player of the season last year, Phil Jagielka, cost just £4milliion, and from centre half gives some of the best strikers a run for their money.

£1.5million was the fee given for Australia’s Tim Cahill, who is currently captaining the injury struck side.

The list goes on and on with the likes of Louis Saha, Leighton Baines, Steven Pienaar Tim Howard, Dan Gosling and Phil Neville.

It was signings like this that have helped Everton to qualifying for the Europe consistently over the past three seasons, an FA Cup final, League cup semi final and to a brief but memorable encounter in the Champions League.

Dire Straits

It seems to me and many other Blues that ‘fat cats’ almost fill with glee when we fail. There’s been blogs on the BBC that we’re in Dire Straits due to the fact we got beat by Hull and the Sh*te in one week and we cant have a new ground plus the fact that we made a loss of 6.7m. The government wont fund a new ground as it doesn’t benefit them in any way whatsoever, they want unemployment this high so more people join the army and back up this ‘war’ we have to liberate people in Afghanistan when its clearly about oil and nothing else. If our ground was based in that dump we call the capital then you could put your house on it that we’d get funding! The Blues will once again battle all odds and defy them to prove that we can punch up there with the ‘big boys’ and when it all comes crumbling down and these Russian, Sheek, Yank and whoever else owners get bored of these boys toys then we’ll be standing firm with a 6.7m loss as oppose to a 200m. Get behind the boys and start looking after our own club and in my opinion f*ck the lot of them and refurb Goodison to a 50,000 seater cause it can be done. COYB FTRS

Let's Do Them

Depending on your view point it is either good or bad news regarding Kirkby. My brain can't take all the pros and the cons, all I know that wherever my team end up I will go and watch and support them.

The only thing that matters to me at the moment is that we beat the shite. It's so important that we do these pricks. I hate them. Let's hope that that everyone can get their act together and put in a performance to make us all proud. We have got Billy and Fella (please leave him alone) back so we have a few more quality numbers. Nothing will give us all a lift more than a win against the shite and give 3 points we desperately need. Jessie "The Man" Brown (28/11/09)

For The Sake Of My Wall

If the rumour of signing Alan Hutton becomes reality in January, I might just bang my head against the nearest wall. No disrespect to Alan, but am I wrong in thinking that we already have a dearth of right backs. Neil, Hibbo, Neville, Heitinga are all right backs. Now Im no manager, but even I can see that we need a little creativity in the midfield. Whilst I appreciate the need at times to be defensive I also appreciate the fact that WE DONT NEED ANOTHER BLEEDING RIGHT BACK. For the sake of my wall, please, Im begging you, do not sign Alan Hutton.

Heres hoping, Andy Williams(28/11/09)
