How Do We Get Out Of This Mess?

I would imagine, like myself, most of the fans will be starting to wish this year would go away. I know it is early days, but I cannot see us fighting back to the degree that other lower high profile teams are going to do. Why are fans treated to this "will we won't we do something great this season" scenario. We can complain until we are "blue" in the face, but we have to realise, our players are not consistent enough. We just don't seem to have the run of the ball either, or for that matter the refs. I have been watching the league games lately and I have to say, I really do believe when it comes to the so called "big four" when they play against the other teams in the league the decisions the refs make against the other teams really are mind boggling. So not only do we have that to contend with dodgy decisions, we also have to contend with being the "poor members of the league".

Wouldn't it be nice, if we could feel like United supporters, or Chelsea supporters and sense each week our team are going to win, or draw or worse get all the luck in the world that seems to follow liverpool.

I am gutted we are not reaching our potential, I cannot put my finger on it, and would love to know what Davey is going to do to rectify our problems - I must admit, I cannot wait for Tiny to come back in the team, but we have not had him for the two out of the latest three games we wished we had. Oh for the Yak to start scoring again, and Fellaini to really click with scoring. I hope we don't lose against united by a big score - I had a funny dream we won 1-0 . How funny was that. Sorry to sound down guys, but what do you think we are going to do to get out of this mess? Ann. (23/10/08)

Will The Signing Of Moyesy Contract Make His Tactics Any Better?

Congrats on your new deal Moyes. I sincerely hope it works out for you Everton and the fans. Saying that we performed better at Arsenal means nothing when you don't win the game. We have never beaten them at their home ground in the Premiership. So! how do you measure progress from that. Hull can do it. Why cant' Everton. The answer is simple Moyes tactics.

When a national newspaper sites the Yak as "Lumbering and Lolloping and barely broke out first gear". That tells' you that Moyes, is ruining the Yak like he ruined Beattie, by playing him as the lone striker in a stupid 4-5-1 system. I would sooner play 4-4-2 with 2 wingers and 2 strikers and lose, then watch the debacle that was 3-1....and as usual Hibbert is clueless and we need to get rid. He cant' read the game, his defending and marking is poor.

Now! Manure this weekend. 4-4-2 all out attack, bring in 'shandy' as a winger, with arty on the other wing, play Vaughan and the yak up front and Fellaini and Castillo in the middle of midfield, with the oz and Jags. If he is fit Nev right back Yobs and Lescott in the middle and Baines left back. If Nev is not fit....jags right back...and Rodwell in midfield. It's not rocket science. It's called entertaining the fans, and having a bloody good go at beating a regular team in the top 4. Like we should have done against the redshite, but once again Moyes failed with stupid tactics! Come on Moyes! Wake up and have a go, before its too late, and there aren't any fixtures left against top 4 clubs. Entertain the fans! Mal (Trueblue) but not holdings!

Moyes 5 Year Contract Means Nothing

Just a short note to cheer up all the Blue boys out there who like me are absolutely gobsmacked at the news that “The great Moyes” has signed on again for 5 FUCKIN YEARS. At a reported contract of £3.5mil a year. Don’t worry it’ll all be over soon. I know everyone says this but I do have it on very good authority honest! That Kenshite has told the Great Pretender that a take over is imminent and he can’t protect his sorry loser arse when it happens. (Cos he’ll be gone himself with a big fat undeserved fuckin pay off). So better save yourself Wavey Davey sign the contract now and when you get fucked off once the new owners are installed you’ll get a big fat undeserved fuckin pay off. Not bad money with nothing to show for it in the trophy cabinet. Even as bad as the shite said Houliier was. At least he put some tin on the side board. Oh I almost forgot the new manager is going to be Phil Brown. Believe it or don’t I don’t give a toss. It's fact. If not within the next couple of months. He will be installed in the summer. See you all for pre-season then with dreams of a domestic treble (cos we got no chance of Europe this season). Chris B (The Original Wirral Blue). (23/10/08)

Over The Top Fans At Arsenal

I was at the Arsenal game and I saw a lot of banter going on, the usual. However it went over the top after their 2nd/3rd goal went in and quiet a few Arsenal fans in the upper tier (exclusive boxes!!! They should know better) were throwing coins at us, which causes a load of angry Evertonians to kick off and the stewards / police moved in etc, what was worse then in my eyes that I saw an Evertonian spiting at the Arsenal fans, I suppose what you expect when we get treated like shit in the first place, he was standing his ground from his point of view, which the stewards weren’t doing at all! However two wrongs don’t make a right but there was no way enough stewards to control the crowd in the upper tier and at the side of us behind the goal. If they had more stewards it would never escalated. I’m not sure what you fellers made of it. Rant over, bring on Man U! Martin Campbell. (23/10/08)

Eddie Mcpherson

Does anybody out there in Sydney know of an Eddie Mcpherson - an Evertonian from Wallasey, Merseyside and is about 46? He plays in those pub sports competitions out there is a pub called `The Blue House.` Thanks, Simon Connor. (23/10/08)

Calling All Scottish Toffees

Just curious guys. I'm a Scottish toffee, born and bred, but my old man was from St Helens and there is still plenty of family there. However, being in the Navy, we moved up here when i was very young and was brought up with the everton scarf firmly wrapped around my neck, and shirt on my back.....worn with pride in this land of only two half decent football teams, (Rangers & Celtic).

I was just wanting to know, is there any Scottish supporters groups up in Scotland that you know of??? I know of one or two fellow blues, but after going through various message boards, have so far come to a blank that my efforts may be in vain.

Would be great to have a few fellow blues come together for matches in a local refreshment centre, or to travel down to games. My father and i had season tickets up until a few years ago, but travelling became too much now that i have a couple of young new generation blue noses around!!!!

If you have any information, or able to put a shout out, would be great, perhaps discussions could start then to set something up if not already done !!! feel free to pass on my contact email to any fellow blues that may help, thanks
Yours Sincerely Peter Latham. Dumbarton. Scotland. (23/10/08)

Views From Australia

I have to start by saying I hope Moyesy stays on, but he's got a few things he needs to get through his head. I hate to repeat what others say, but I feel I'm taking these points a step further than most.

1. You can't play with one attacking player anymore. The 4-5-1 or 4-1-4-1 days were but a blip on the football radar and ended about two season ago. We all know The Yak is best when he has support, and Tiny is a goal sneak. So if he is one for the designated strikers, defenders will give him more attention. Play him behind Yak and Saha/Vic (Vaughn is shit).

2. Fuck Hibbert off. Literally. He should be playing in League Two at best. I can't remember him doing a good thing for the club, and his performance against Standard was probably the worst display of sport I've seen since... I don't know when. I watched the derby here in South-East Queensland, Australia with my friends who are red-shite supporters, and as soon as they saw the no. 2 jersey walk out, they were licking their lips, correctly predicting that their successful attacks would come down their left.

3. Put Shandy in. The man is not going to get fit on the sidelines, and he is a class player when given the opportunity. The seven sub rule now means you can take chances with selections, and quite frankly, it does nothing for the supporters to see unknown names on the bench, where Vic and Vaughn are considered veterans.

4. Start plugging Arteta to the Spain selectors with some conviction and agro in your words. If he doesn't play for Spain soon HE WILL LEAVE to a bigger club, which means we're fucked. He is the best thing that has happened to the club (perhaps even the premiership) in a lifetime, and makes every other midfielder look shite (if Ronaldo was playing for us and not Manure he wouldn't be half the player Mikky is).

All in all, the players we got in the summer were alright for unknowns (Louis aside). The problem was they were bought right at the death and have had no time to gel with the team. Lars is alright but who would know as he's already out for months, Maro will be a good player once everyone figures out his strengths (heading, getting in the face of defenders) and Castillo is good (why isn't he starting?). Moyesie's best bet is to keep doing what he did at Stoke. Blow up occasionally, call referees on there stuff ups. Does anyone actually think Alex Ferguson is a friendly guy? He's a pric. A pric who has got his job done more often than not. For Christ's sake Moysie, show some passion. If we score a goal, it's okay to smile. Remember your reaction when we beat The Arse a couple of seasons ago in the pouring rain? That was when it felt good waking up on monday telling our mates at work we stayed up to watch the football. COYB! Roman. (18/10/08)
