The Vote Went "YES" in favour of Kirkby

Redevelopment Of Goodison

I feel I must reply to Kevin's mail regarding Kirkby. I also realise that you may not want the spectre of the Kirkby debate hogging your mails but surely on such an important issue both sides should be heard?

Perhaps I should initially remind Kevin of the propaganda surrounding our move to Kirkby. It was to be a "First class stadium" and not, as has transpired, a medium class stadium. There was no plan B or C due to the "Exclusivity Agreement" arranged, I believe, by Tesco. This negated any possibility of a plan B or C. I believe you to be correct in that we don`t have the money for an alternative but there is always, and always has been, the redevelopment of Goodison.

This could/should have been done in 2000 when the price had been estimated at £40m. Instead of which the Board sat on their collective hands and the opportunity was missed. Kings Dock anybody ?

I don`t necessarily agree with KEIOC but I do understand their concerns. There are no plans whatsoever for any transport improvements which would be essential for getting 50,000 fans, Wyness`s figures not mine, to and from the game. There are those, disabled or unable to walk too far, who will now be excluded from the games.

Do you really believe that due to our proposed move to Kirkby we are suddenly going to increase our gate receipts by just under 20% ? Where are all of these extra fans going to come from ? I suspect that anybody interested in Everton Football Club, in Kirkby, already attends the matches.

Then there is the Council who have allegedly put down as part of the agreement that we have to give them 100 opportunities to use the stadium free of charge. What is that all about !

In conclusion, finally, I have to say that due to the "Exclusivity Agreement" there was no possibility whatsoever of there being any other alternatives. Everything in the city is geared around LFC and it would appear that it will remain that way. We, for reasons beyond my comprehension, have chosen to "Outsource" everything with the consequence that we are barely known to exist even though we were the first club in the city !

I believe that there are countless reasons why we should not be going to Kirkby. We seem to have a low enough profile in the city as it is, so to move further out of the city would appear to be madness ! A dispirited Blue, John. (13/07/08)

Clubcard

I found this small article on Everton on accountancy age. Thought you might put it on your site with the other stadium articles.

Who Speaks For The Majority?

'Unfortunately this is not a day to re-juice, just another day were beleaguered Evertonians feel betrayed be the custodians of the Peoples Club. We as a group have asked for a plan b and indeed a plan c if necessary. Unfortunately our club seems unable to deliver' Dave Kelly. KEIOC spokesperson. (09/06/08)

Why do you insist on claiming that this opinion is what makes you an Evertonian? You are not Evertonian's if anything KEIOC come across as anti-Evertonian and anybody who disagrees with you is thick or has been hoodwinked.

So I'll speak for the MAJORITY who voted for the move when I say of course we would love to stay at Goodison, Of course we would love to stay in the city and of course we would love to see a plan B but there was only one REAL, SERIOUS, option on the table and we the MAJORITY voted YES to it. Hoodwinked Darren. (13/07/08)

Stadium Plans

In response to Dave Kelly and his call for "plan B or plan C". There is no plan B or C as EFC cant afford it. The money isn't there and it won't be. Maybe the Tesco proposals don't turn out as good as we have been led to believe we will have to wait and see. The truth is that the Tesco deal is the only proposal on the table and unless the council come up with a similar deal (or any deal ) then EFC are right to pursue it. The fans voted KEIOC lost and they looked for salvation from the city council. Fair enough but it seems that the only plan B KEIOC have is lets stay at Goodison and er that's it.

This fantasy that the cavalry will come riding over the hill and rescue us at the last moment in the form of Mr Bradley (General Custer) is a delusion. More over its dishonest because every body knows Bradley is not General Custer but in fact Mr Magoo. Bradley, claimed many months ago to be unaware of issues around new stadiums etc.

Have KEIOC information that I don't have? Is a deal likely? have you a hot line to Magoo and he has managed to bend the ears of the mega rich and secure a firm set of proposals which amounts to a defo maybe set of preliminary maters for discussion which may lead to specific proposals leading to talks about negotiations?

No didn't think so the truth is KEIOC have no solutions to the problems we face as a club. The club have come up with a solution and they think its workable. KEIOC were given the chance to campaign on the proposal put to the clubs fans. Democracy was served, as far as it goes. KEIOC lost the argument and turned up the heat on those councilors who it thought should be standing up to be counted. Bradley shit his pants and played the wenger card (did I not see that).

Bradley and his ilk will try and salvage his reputation amongst KEIOC supporting voters by giving the appearance of doing something by for example objecting to the scheme (because that's all they can do) and mouthing platitudes to the supporters. In the meantime EFC could lose the only opportunity they have to progress via a new stadium. Dave you need to wake up and realise you lost the argument. KEIOC seem unable to cope with this idea that things change and in order to survive we have to change with them. Kevin Byrne. (15/06/08)

Stadium

Bradley and Anderson Everton fans? My arse. If Everton don't get the new stadium I guarantee there will be no investment in the team and Moyes will be off. So much for democracy. The true fans have voted for the new stadium, Bradley and Anderson are abusing their positions on the Council. Because of their involvement they should not have voted as this is surely a conflict of interest. This is the same Council that bends over backwards to accommodate the red shite and after all this time still cant make a realistic offer to accommodate our club and were would we get the finance? Shaun Cahill. (09/06/08)

Liverpool City Council

I am somewhat bemused by your article re Liverpool CC alleged reluctance to call for a Public Enquiry into the great stadium debate. I think that along with the vast majority of the wider Evertonian Family Bluekipper have been sold a pup.

We need to wake up and smell the coffee, we have been hood-winked by the local media. Equally this evening Sefton Councils planning committee are meeting, in Southport Town Hall. Once again, I believe the elected members will make a principled decision and lodge there objection and request "call in" and that West Lancs., St Helens will follow suite with there objections.

Unfortunately this is not a day to r-juice, just another day were beleaguered Evertonians feel betrayed be the custodians of the Peoples Club. We as a group have asked for a plan b and indeed a plan c if necessary. Unfortunately our club seems unable to deliver.

We also need to be aware that even after Knowsley Council agree to give Tesco outline planning permission at Mondays meeting, there will still need to be a public enquiry. This will be a long winded, drawn out process. On the basis of the statement made by the C.E.O. in the programme on the opening day of last season against Wigan when he clearly stated that if this was "called in " the club would not be able to proceed.

In closing I would like to thank the elected members of Liverpool City Council for giving me the opportunity to address the planning committee, on behalf of K.E.I.O.C, it was refreshing to see democracy not only been done, but been seen to be done. I hope Knowsley MBC, Everton FC and Tesco are watching and listening. There is lessons out there to be learnt be all concerned. Regards Dave Kelly. KEIOC spokesperson. (09/06/08)

The Deal Of The Century

I don`t know where some people get their facts from but there is obviously a slight misunderstanding regarding the "Tescodome". It was recently revealed that "The deal of the century" is going to cost Everton Football Club somewhere in the region of £78m ! I do not regard that as virtually free ! Did anybody know that "The deal of the century" was going to cost this much ? Wyness and Kenwright must have known the amounts involved surely. But I would not trust Wyness as far as I could throw him as he is clearly being somewhat economical with the truth. The stadium was supposed to be virtually free but it now transpires that we are going to be paying big time. And due to the lack of money we are going to end up with a second class stadium. As far as Kenwright is concerned I have to ask how many more times are we going to be fed untruths. The Fortress Fund, Kings Dock for example. I am led to believe that Kenwright kept Liverpool City Council waiting and waiting although the money was allegedly "Ringfenced" when it was clearly not even available. I also believe that Paul Gregg guaranteed the money in exchange for a larger shareholding but Kenwright was not letting go of his own personal train set ! Hence the fall out between Kenwright and Gregg. So from the possibility of Kings Dock we now find ourselves being shunted out to Kirkby. It is, as has already been mentioned, hard enough to find Everton stuff in the stores already, I dread to think what it will be like when we move out of the city. A slightly dispirited Blue, John. (31/05/08)

Conned By Survey

I too was appalled by the "survey" about the new stadium put out by KEIOC. Such bias is a dreadful slight on anyone who, for whatever reason, would prefer Everton to stay away from Kirkby. Can they not realise that the vote was lost for good reason, that there is no alternative and that we get what is almost a free stadium. Tesco is not the devil incarnate, but a vastly profitable enterprise that we all visit. I for one am getting very fed up with this "our city" rubbish, when the same 19 bus will get us to the new stadium. Blue Kipper has been brilliant at letting both sides of the stadium argument put their views, but did you really have to let us into that survey. I filled it in, but have been sorry that I did so ever since the last click, when I knew that I had been conned. Any results that KEIOC put out will be insulting to all who are fair-minded and open about stadium proposals. Frank. (30/05/08)
