Referee: Alans Willy

It looks good for the Toffeemen when you have a bench with players on it like Yak, Jo, Dan and Billy These are players who can make a serious contribution if thing are not going the right way. There was talk of Moyesy starting with King Louis and Yak up front but it wasn't going to be today. Instead we had The King up front with support from Fella and Timmy Cahill. Jonny was preferred at right back ahead of Hibbo and Lucas. It was a strong looking line up with Joey Yobo coming back to skipper the side.

It was a pretty even opening with a couple of chances for both sides. But a bit of a worry was how easy Jonny was beaten for pace a couple of times. I know it is early days and let’s just hope he is getting used to the pace of the Premiership. The best chance for Pompey was when the funny looking Aruna Dindane was put through after a good one two. He got his shot away but thankfully Tim Howard made a brilliant save.

The Blues should have scored not long after that save when Fella had his header saved by the clown from a point blank header. The chance was created by a great cross from Ossie.

King Louis showed his class in putting Everton 1 up. A long searching ball from Jonny went over the gay looking Kaboul, Louis chested it in front of him and smashed it into the roof of the net. Pure class. The King is on fire.

Half Time 0-1

We got off to a very slow start after the break and it needed a great save from Tim Howard to keep us in the lead. It was an instinctive point blank shoulder stop from he horrible Ben Haim header.

Peanuts looks to have a bad injury when he was clattered into by dickhead Mokoena. It looked like he flew into Steven with his head. He tried to carry on but eventually had to be carried off. He wasn't his usual influencing self but I hope this isn't’t a serious one because we will miss him.

Tim Cahill had a header cleared off the line from a corner on 66 minutes. That seemed to be the last time we were in the Pompey half.

The last half hour we were under cosh big time. During this time there were bookings for Jack, Fella and Joey. They hit the bar and had a header cleared off the line. We were really hanging on. Hibbo came on for Ossie. Jonny went into the middle and Tim dropped back on the right. It was all hands to the pump.

Tim made another great save deep into stoppage time and we just about hung on to take all three points. It was one of them games when you couldn't wait for the whistle to go and for our victoy we had to thank an overworked defense and a great goalkeeping display from Tim Howard who gets the Blue Kipper Star Man award.

Full Time 0-1

Quotes After The Game

Moyesy says: "They were three points we were determined to get and the players showed that with their attitude. They had to work really hard to stay in it at times but it was good.

"We were asked questions today and they responded. The goalkeeper stopped things and we were in the right places at the right times. That's also part of football.

"We could've scored more but, in truth, I thought Portsmouth were strong today and put us under a lot of pressure."

Everton Team News

The roll continues, as after the early season doom and gloom, Blues fans are walking round with heads held high after three straight wins, eleven goals scored and none conceded. Everton ripped Hull apart the other night securing Moyesy's biggest away day victory in the process. He is though expected to ring the changes for our trip to the South Coast. Yak is feeling the effects on his fantastic return to first team action, and will if anything just make the bench. King Louis who is in prolific scoring form himself will definitely start up front, but does Moyesy put Jo up with him, or let Tiny sit behind in his favoured 4-5-1 formation.

Jonny Boy should return at right back, displacing the unlucky Hibbo, and Ossie after his man of the match performance in the middle at Hull may yet carry on that role. Joey Yobo should be back in the centre of defence, and Billy will be a starter out on the left. Its looking good for the Blues, our quality is there for all to see, and with the new boys now finding their feet, I expect good things this season.

Pompey did us twice last season, and in our our 59 meetings through life they also lead us 25 wins to 24 (10 draws). They are though in free fall at the minute losing seven on the bounce in the League (six this season - one from last), and have lost some of their big time players to clear the clubs debts. King Louis remarkably will only make his 200th Premier League start if he plays for the Blues tomorrow, but in thirteen starts for the Blues he has scored ten times, not bad eh, and don't bet on it against happening again tomorrow. Louis says: "They have lost a couple of good players and obviously a great manager in Harry Redknapp as well. But at the same time, we have to remember that the Premier League is in its early days and they will be looking for their first points. I look forward to a great game. It would be nice to win."

Moyesy says: "It was comfortable, but that just shows that the 16 or 18 players we do have at the club can all play in the first team at any time; I think they're all capable of that. The thing we don't have is the back-up, after that we don't have a lot of players.

We have a lot of games and we're going to Europe," he said, "and we'd like to make some more changes, but we're a little limited with that even in the Carling Cup. It's probably been my style anyway to try and put out a strong side no matter what competition we're in and try and win it. I see the defensive solidity improving. We've added Sylvain and Johnny to the squad, but that doesn't happen right away, that takes time. That's why I'm glad we've got a couple of clean sheets in the game, because it can boost the confidence and give us a bit of belief that we can do so." (25/09/09)

Lavo's Best Bet In Association With Free Bet For The Blues

Just like the Blues we have three straight wins, and now a healthy looking Charity pot of £109 big ones. Pompey away is our next challenge, and they are a team devoid of confidence. They have lost their opening six Premiership matches (a new record), although they did taste victory at Carlisle in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night. This reflects in their odds as they are 7/2 to win at home, while the on fire Blues with three straight wins, eleven scored and none conceded ar 4/5 on. The draw is 11/4.

Moyesy's boys are flying averaging 3.3 goals scored per match in the last three games. You can get 11/10 on over 2.5 goals, and 4/5 for under that mark. An interesting stat is that Pompey have let in more goals in the first half of matches than any other club this season. You can get a tasty 4/1 for the Blues to win both halves which may be worth a punt.

Now King Louis won us a few bob last weekend, and he is 6/1 to open the scoring at Fratton Park. The Yak to do so on his old stomping ground is the same mark, but it is doubtful he will start. Tiny comes in at 8/1, and new boy Billy is 12's. Good luck and lets hope our run continues.

About The Opposition

Pompey set a Premiership record they could well do without last week, when they lost their opening six matches, a feat that has never been achieved before since its inception. Admittedly their bosses have raped and pillaged the club of their best players to bring cash in to stop them going under. Lets hope they go seven defeats, before they finally start their long climb to safety.

Full-back and ex red shite Steve Finnan could finally make his Portsmouth debut on Saturday after struggling with a hamstring problem since arriving from Espanyol. Striker Aruna Dindane, who scored on his debut against Carlisle on Tuesday, may miss out with a knee injury.

Pompey Boss Paul Hart says: "Its a game that we are looking to win. I've got great belief in the players as everybody is trying to get a result. Everybody says it's the worst start in the Premier League but nobody has had a situation like we did. There were a number of names touted around that were going to take the managers job on but there is only me here." (25/09/09)
