Well then, two games in the space of three days at the shrine, seven scored none conceded, all is not bad in our Royal Blue world. Blackburn today were our opponents and a team we do not normally do well against. Moyesy rang a few changes, some enforced, some by choice. Jonny Boy started in place of Hibbo, King Louis displaced Jo and Ossie kept his place when we heard late on that Billy's injury had forced him to sit this one out. As I said in the pre match team news, we now have options. Our bench comprised of the Yak, Jo, Danny G Laaa, Hibbo, and we still have Mikky, The Jag, Captain Phil, Lucas Neill and Big Vic to come back or start for us. As I said all is not bad in our Royal Blue world.

So then to today, we were fuggin great to put it bluntly. After last weeks lack lustre display at Fulham, Moyesy's bollicking had no doubt hit home. After tearing AEK apart we today dispatched a poor Blackburn side easily. Pre match we were all upset that Billy's name did not make the team sheet after his top notch performance on Thursday night. We need not have worried as with Nuts and Jack the Lad running the show in the middle, the Blues were on fire.

Jonny Boy had a quiet day on his right back debut, as apart from the odd attack the Blues were comfortable with what Blackburn had to throw at them. King Louis opened the scoring and in the process pocketed us a few quid for Lavo's Best Bet. Our bet was Billy to net, but when he did not make the starting eleven and we seen King Louis had, our tenner was wagered there. His goal came courtesy of a fantastic centre from Leighton Baines after Nuts had been hauled down. Bainsey fired in the free kick and King Louis poked a foot out to give the Blues a well deserved opener. We kept on pushing, Ossie went close, Jack the Lad was performing superbly in the middle, maturing week by week. King Louis second came once again from another fantastic centre, this time from Screech. He rose like the proverbial salmon to nod home in front of the Street End.

The Blues were rocking and rolling, Joey Yobo made it three, with a close range prod in, and in fairness three was kind to Blackburn. Ex England keeper Paul Robinson pulled off some top draw saves, and helped in making the scoreline respectable for the visitors. The Blues were rampant, and I predict good things for them this season. We may not have the numbers of other squads, but we do possess quality and real quality in our set up. Our climb up the table has started, and with the likes of Wolves, Stoke, Bolton and Pompey in the coming weeks, we should by the end of October be sat in the top half of the table, if not higher.

Starman today goes undoubtedly to Nuts, who just ran the midfield. He was outstanding, but other star performers were obviously Louis who netted twice, and Jack the Lad, who will be an England regular in the next few years, he is just awesome. Well played boys, now Hull on Wednesday, lets get that Wembley feeling starting again. COYB FTRS

Quotes After The Game

Moyesy says: "I enjoyed the result and the performance. At times we were very good. Blackburn made it difficult, particularly in the first half, but we were able to defend their set pieces.

I think Saha is a terrific player and he's right up there with the best I've ever worked with. With the quality of the players we have, we're much better than we've shown so far." (20/09/09)

His Everton managers, Billy Bingham and Gordon Lee.The book costs £17.99 and would make an ideal Christmas present for all Evertonians.

Duncan says: “When I arrived at Everton in December 1977, I finally found my spiritual home. Scousers, for me, are the most charitable people in Britain.”

As a one off, for this special occasion, non-members will be welcome after the game. So come on down and Duncan will personally sign the book for you, as well as posing for photographs.

Everton Team News

Options, options, options, Moyesy at last has a few. A sure starter against Blackburn after his fantastic performance on Thursday will be Billy, who will keep Ossie on the bench for a time. He does however have a slight groin problem, but hopefully he will be ok. Hibbo should return at right back for Danny G Laaa who was an able deputy against the Greeks, and he will also step down to the bench. Jo should keep his place up front, but the pressure is now on him with King Louis and The Yak both chomping at the bit. Another new face in Jonny Boy should sit in he middle with Jack the Lad replacing the long termed injured Phil Neville. Lucas Neill may have to sit it out for a few weeks after he admitted that his fitness is not up to pace for the Premiership yet. To me though it is starting to take shape and if we play half as well as we did against AEK, it should safely be three points to the Blues, shit why did I say that.

Blackburn are one of Everton's bogey sides at Goodison having won their seven times in the Premiership. Only the Arse and manure have a better record against us, and in the last five matches they are unbeaten against the Blues. Blackburn have lost their last six away league games though so lets hope they keep that record up. A seventh defeat would be their worst run since the start of the Premier League.

Moyesy says: "We wanted to get some play, get some rhythm and a feeling like we're back to playing better - that's why I put a strong team out. I would have probably swapped that result for the game against Blackburn because we have to get the Premier League up and running. It's your bread and butter, it's what you have to do - obviously you don't want to be at the bottom, but we are because we haven't won the games in the early part of the season."

Sam Allardyce's teams are very honest, hard-working and committed and they always give me a good game. The games against Blackburn over the years have been pretty tight. When you look back on last year you have to say we've had a similar start - it's not what we wanted. I think there are genuine reasons, like recruitment again, which I think has certainly been one of the reasons for that.

It's not massively tempting (to play him Lucas Neill) because he's not played and he's not up to match speed yet. But I do know that if I get an injury I can do so. But it's not tempting at the moment because I feel we've got people coming back to fitness and people coming back from the game in midweek. I think I've got plenty of options." (19/09/09)

Lavo's Best Bet In Association With Free Bet For The Blues

I am on a roll now, our bet was up by half time against the Greeks, and we now stand at a mind blowing £30 in the pot. Blackburn as we said in the team news have a superb record at Goodison, and they are a surprising 4/1 for a win. The Blues are odds on at 5/6 and the draw is 5/2. Our favourite of over 2.5 goals is a tadge over even money, whilst under the same mark is 5/6. If you are very brave you can get 11/4 that there will be over 3.5 goals, but that is a bit paltry in a game that historically does not give us many.

Talking of goals, Jo and King Louis are both 6/1, Tiny 11/2, and Billy is a tasty 11/1. I feel that the Russian can give us goals this season as he loves to cut inside and have a go. For Billy to score at anytime in the match you can get 7/2 and that is my banker for tomorrow. C'mon the Russian lad.

About The Opposition

Big Sam says: I watched them last week against Fulham and I thought they were a little bit like us at Sunderland. I felt they were extremely unfortunate to lose the game but their over all play deserved more out of the game than no points.

But me and Moyesie we are realists, we understand that if you don't take your chances at the time and you don't do the right things and you make silly or elementary errors at the wrong time you get punished in the Premier League. It happened to us at Sunderland and it happened to them at Fulham. At Goodison it is a different story, they've got a great crowd a great atmosphere and the team seems to have settled down now with his new signing.

We are looking forward to the game and we know it is going to be tough but we know that if we play well and are consistant with our defending then we know we can get something out of the game." (19/09/09)
