The Blues showed real mental strength after going behind early in both halves but equalisers from first Joey Lomas straight from a corner and then from David Devaney's near post bullet header saw them go into extra time at 2-2. Their cause was further helped when Liverpool went down to ten men after a disgraceful tackle on Joey Lomas, which led to the youngster have to be carried off and replaced. A fantastic comeback was completed when reds defence misjudged a long kick from Keeper Ian Hopkins to allow Ynyr Jones to run on one on one with the Liverpool keeper and slot home to see The Blues move into the Second round and a home tie against Stalybridge Celtic.
